First of all I must say that Chuck Cotton is probably the coolest person I've ever met in my life and everybody that comes in contact with Chuck pretty much agrees (just ask Albert King...well never mind.) Anyway, Chuck is the real deal. His touch and timing is something you either have or you don't. Playing drums to this man is as natural as breathing, and eating.
Chuck actually started out as a Saxophonist, but the rumour is that one night his horn got smashed, so he took up the drums. Since then he has become "The Drummer" around town. Nobody can do it like Chuck. He is gifted in all kinds of music including R&B, Soul, Funk, Rock and Roll, Rockabilly you name it. But I think his touch with "Old School" blues is what sets him apart from other drummers, he just doesn't play it, he feels it. I know that and so did Electric Blues pioneer Jimmy Rogers.
Jimmy Rogers was one of the many blues legends that Chuck played with during his different stints with blues guitar master Bob Margolin. Oh yeah, so far he's told me that he's played with: John Brim, Nappy Brown, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, James Cotton, Albert King, and Jimmy Rogers to name a few. You'll never ever hear him Bragging about that kind of stuff though, because he's also one of the most modest men I've ever meet.
People in not just North Carolina rave about Chuck Cotton. People from Greensboro to Finland eat up anything this man has to offer. Oh, yeah he's also one of North Carolina's greatest vocalist, but he'd never agree to that. I try to feature Chuck anytime I get on stage with him. I book him every chance I get, because with his busy schedule it seems like the whole worlds fighting over Chuck Cotton. There's also a Chuck Cotton CD in the making with Chuck singing and playing on all of it, so the whole world needs to look out.
*Chuck is also the 2005 PBPS Keeping the Blues Alive Award Winner

FJ Ventre - Upright Bass/Vocals
FJ Ventre is by far one of the most talented upright bassist in The Carolinas. Not only is FJ a great bassist but also a great voaclist too. FJ got started out playing bass in his native land of Boston. There FJ played with lots of artists like the Invaders and Jon Shain. For the last couple of years he has been playing with Max in Cajun Blues Master Mel Melton's band. When not playing with the Buzzkills you can catch FJ with his own Rockabilly band Edsel 500 or with his fellow Bostonian in crime Mr. Jon Shain.

Max "Krookshank" Drake - Guitars / Mandolin
Max is in the truest sense a professional musician. With his successful band Arhooly, he did shows for 15 years with Blues greats like B.B. King, Robert Cray, Lightnin' Hopkins, Carey Bell, and Freddy King. The list is too long so will just stop there. Max just recently finished a four year stint as the lead guitar player for Big Bill Morganfield's band ( son of Muddy Waters ). As well as playin with The Buzzkills Max is currently playing with Cajun Blues master Mel Melton.
Like our good friend Bob Margolin, Max is an encyclopedia of Blues guitar, and has been gracious enough to help lead me down the right path. In just the last couple of years he has turned me on to all sorts of influences that have really shaped my playing and musicianship.
"Krookshank" as some of us like to call him is a true character. Not only is his guitar playing outstanding but so is his personality. Me being the character that I am encourage it and love to let Max loose which can never be a bad thing. His intensity is incredible, it makes people go crazy on a regular basis. Max has been a great "partner and crime" the last couple of years and people run for cover whenever "Crookshank" and "Knuckles" walk into a room. You never know what kind of madness will ensue.
Krookshank enjoys long rides on his trusty Kraftsman lawn mower, the soothing sounds of Lightnin' Hopkins, Marlboro Mediums, and WWII era firearms.
